ADVOCACY ALERT!

Stop HOUSING & JOB KILLER Legislation

Your support is needed to help stop Assembly Bill 1000 (Reyes), a bill so harmful to the homebuilding industry that the California Building Industry Association has identified it as a “Housing Killer”. The California Chamber of Commerce and dozens of business organizations also consider this legislation a “Job Killer” for the Southern California region. 

The state Assembly Committee on Local Government is considering approving this bill. If passed and signed into law, AB 1000 would: 

• Worsen the supply chain backlogs impacting homebuilders along with thousands of other California businesses by creating a de facto ban on new warehouses. 
• Create massive state overreach and cripple local land use control, thus threatening the ability of local cities and counties to meet their state RHNA mandates.

AB 1000 is scheduled to be heard TODAY, Wednesday, April 26. Contact your state representatives today and let them know that this damaging legislation must be defeated.

BIASC Special Evening with Industry Leaders

April 20, 2023 | Richard Nixon Presidential Library

On April 20, 2023, BIASC leadership, members and elected officials gathered to attend A Special Evening with Industry Leaders at the historic Richard Nixon Presidential Library. The first half of the evening’s program featured networking and a housing and economic update by Scott Wild, Senior Vice President of John Burns Real Estate Consulting. The second half of the program featured a panel of BIASC Leadership, including Randall Lewis (The Lewis Group of Companies), Michael Battaglia (New Home Co.), and Greg McWilliams (Five Point) moderated by Jay Prag. This panel of industry experts highlighted the importance of building relationships within BIASC community, and with elected representatives at both the state and local levels of government. The key component to advocacy in the building industry is housing policy.
